I’ve been to quite a few farang restaurants in Chiang Mai and a few Germans, but this German beats almost all. It’s got a wide selection of food, all very good quality, lots of choice for everyone. From salads and cold meats, to cooked meat and various forms of potato, lasagna and plenty of other side dishes, if you didn’t fill up the last hole in your stomach you should try the desserts which are truly delicious.
Auf der Au is run by a very friendly German guy called Udo and his Thai wife. They run the place very well and also deliver food to international schools. Get some schwarzbrot to take home after you’re done.
Every day buffet but on some days the buffet is more limited with mainly schnitzel.
The only problem I have with going to this place is that every time I either overeat or I eat so many different kinds of food that my stomach gets a bit upset.
A must for any food lover.

Always keep some space for the delicious desserts of Auf der Au. You'll regret it if you don't.
