Chiang Mai Immigration Office is the one and only office in the north of Thailand for both foreigners and Burmese workers.
Since many years now, the Chiang Mai Immigration Office is usually very, very busy. Crowds are queuing up outside of the office from early in the morning 6 or 7 am, and at times even up until the road. For this reason, Immigration gained itself the nickname 'the Zoo' amongst some groups of foreigners, and indeed waiting times can easily be 2-4 hours.

Phillip Posted on January 09, 2024 at 07:57:00 Greetings, I've sent 2 emails to the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra, with 2 different queries, and have not received any response. So I'm contacting you to answer one question. I've managed to find an answer to my other question. I'm applying for an OA Retirement visa. I'm Australian and one of the documents required is a 3.4 Australian Electronic Visa (VEVO) for a proof of residence in Australia (only for permanent residents). I am an Australian citizen with an Australian passport. I've contacted VEVO and they've told me that they only issue VEVOs to people in Australia who have a visa. I don't have, nor need any visa for my home country. Please clarify this requirement since I'm keen to submit my application. Kind Regards, Phillip | |
